Hi,

I have submitted my level 2 computerised exam and will be doing my level 2 manual exam on Friday 18th Feb (fingers crossed!), I am looking to get a practice license after passing these exams and I am just doing some research on what software to invest in when setting up a business...has anyone used Sage One? As this seems to be only £10 +VAT and it is an online package so very convenient for working anywhere but just wanted to get some feedback about it's strengths and drawbacks?

Thanks

Hi Lady M,

Sage One is a very new package, so I doubt many members would have vast experience in using it. Please beware the cost - I think  it costs £250 per annum if you're not a member of Sage Accountants Club....but it's free if you are. However, it costs around £700 per annum now to be a member of the Club....it is not "free".

Hi Vanessa,

Sages' marketing is misleading, Sage One is "free" to the members in the sense that you have access to your clients data. The client still has to pay to use the software.

I've tried the software and in my opinion they've rush-released the software to gain a presence in cloud accounting. I don't know if they plan to release a Sage One Pro but the functionality isn't what I'd want from a cloud app. The only reports are P&L, B/s and TB, there's no Aged Debtors / Creditors which I think is reasonable to expect as standard these days.

It's not cloud based but VT+, is worth a look at. One of it's key benefits is it's multi-company out of the box.

Hi Tony and Vanessa,

Thank you for your feedback, I have since signed up for the 30 day trial and can see that Sage One does not meet my needs at all. I am currently looking into VT Transaction+, Solar accounts etc. I have one more question, I am most familiar with the Sage Line 50 package, can anyone tell me what the differences are between Sage Line 50 and Sage Instant Accounts?

Lady M
