Hi all,
I have a query regarding practicing from my current address, I have encountered a problem as i live in company accomadation linked to mine and my husbands current employment. As i intended to undertake work from home i disscussed my intentions with the company im employed by and unfortunately they are not happy for businesses to be run from the accomadation if the business address is used for another business. If i wish to take out a practice licence insurance & register as self employed with HMRC will i need a business address or can i just state a correspondance address this the company will permit. Please someone advise me on this I feel now like my plans have come to an end before they have really begun.

Thanks in advance for any assitance you can give me with this

Kind Regards

Emma

Thankyou James,
Would i be right in assuming that the address has no bearing with regards to applying and registering for insurance, practice licence and HMRC as being self employed as it is me that will hold these regardless of the address i use for the business? I have had a quick look at the virtual offices but would rather avoid such expense until i know if i can make any income would i be permitted to use a family member or friends address in the same way?

With regards to the companies reasoning behind not running another business from the accomadation I have been told this is down to incidents which had happened previously with employees setting up business within the same address and debts incurred by these had been attempted to be collected from the company. Im unsure if this is even a legitimate reason as surely it is the business who owes these that would be liable for payment although carried out from the same address it would be a different business and have a different business name.

Kind regards

Emma
