Financial Year Date in Sage

Please can someone help me!

I've recently taken on a new client, and their financial year runs to 31 March.

My predecessor has installed Sage during the last financial year, but has entered the FY date as starting on 1 March, therefore creating a year end date of 28 Feb.

Is there any way to change this in the system, without restoring it back to a blank copy and reentering the entries, as there are a lot!

Hi Lizzie

There is not a way to do this easily. I believe if you contact Sage directly they can for a price change the year end for you.

Thanks for your reply - I guessed it was going to cost money!

I will call Sage and then discuss with the client and see how we move forwards!

Hi Lizzie,

I'd run the current year to the 28th Feb. Then I'd start a new company running from 1st - 31st March, transferring the closing balances from the original data set.

Then you can run as normal.

It's a pain to do but it may well be cheaper than asking Sage.

Hi Lizzie,

It is possible and there is a simpler solution than exporting data and then re-importing in a new company, or by doing a dummy year end.

I need to know what version of Sage you are using.

Sage do charge for doing this as they do for resetting a password, they must like to keep it secret!

I can change the year end date even if the data has been entered.


You would need to send me a back up of the company file (This is how Sage would do it) , I would change and then you would restore the backup with the change of date. You would then need to review any enteries that are prior to the new year end date as they would not be reflected in the current year's TB.
