Sage Instant Accounts

Hi all

I'm just about to sit my level 2 manual bookkeeping exam and then look to set up on my own.

At the moment I have a few clients interested and 2 of them have Sage Instant Accounts that they would like me to put on my own computer.  Is it possible to have 2 of the same programs on the one computer?  They each have their own seriel number/activation codes etc.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Thanks in advance

Kirsty

ETA - Would I also have to buy the Sage 50 for multiple companies for any other clients without their own Sage?

Hi,

You can have multiple licence on Sage but this can be quite pricey. Another way round it is to have just the one Sage program and take back ups of each company, then when you want to change companies, just do a restore to which ever one you want to work on.
You cant have two seperate Sage programs on one computer.
Hope this helps

Essexbookkeeping running multiple companies when you only have a licence for one could be considered a violation of the licence agreement which could lead to a prosecution for copyright infringements and I believe Garry gave an example of how the money saved by not purchasing the correct licence was considered the proceeds of a crime and therefore money laundering.

Kind regards
Stuart

Thanks for the reply EssexBookkeeping but I think I'll stick with what Stuart says, better to be safe than sorry and all that.

I was speaking to one of my (hopefully soon to be) clients and it's actually Sage 50 he uses so surely I could have that on and my other (hopefully soon to be) clients Instant Accounts on the same computer?!  Only thing is would I still be better buying my own Sage 50 and putting client number 1 on that and then having the ability to add more companies when needed? Undecided

Hi,

I use Sage 50 Client Manager 10 User for my clients. However, if you work onsite and need to do work at home, you need to ensure both you and the client are running exactly the same software, i.e Sage Accounts 2008, 2009 etc. I've had to instal each of these years on separate drives (Sage were quite ok with my doing so, advising me how to). Sage Instant is a standalone system, so Stuart is correct in what he says.

Hi there,

Apart from breaching the licence terms, constantly restoring different data into one version is a recipe for data corruption  :-(

You can install more than one copy of different versions of Sage on the same computer.
