P35 Help

Hi All,

THis is probably a really daft question but I just want to make sure I get this right as it is my first P35-

In respect of box 25 (NIC's/Tax already paid) is the amount I enter here the actual total amount paid to HMRC during the tax year or only the amount paid which relates to the NIC/Tax payable for that year?  - For example I have an amount that was paid to HMRC on 16/04/2010 but this payment relates to tax owed in the previous tax year - so would this be included in box 25 on the p35 for tax year 2010-2011? -  to my mind if it is included it would show on the P35 as an overpayment of tax/NIC for the year.

Many thanks for your help.

You should include all payments in respect of the 2010/11 tax year up to the time that you submit the P35 return. It should therefore include any payments that were made in April 2011 in respect of Mth12 etc. Do not include the payment in April 2010 in respect of the tax year 2009/2010.

Hope this of help.
