Online Banking

A client of mine has asked whether there is a UK bank that has an online facility for batch payments. Has anyone come across this at all? He wants his admin staff to go in and enter payments, but for him then to login and authorise them for processing. Apparently they used to do this when they lived in New Zealand.

Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks,
Alison

Bank of Scotland used to have this but I'm not sure if it is still the same set up as they have mucked about so much in recent years.

Good Luck

Hi Alison,

HSBC certainly do have the facility to do batch payment online.  You can raise a payment proposal which can later get authorised by your client.

This facility also offer good service to integrate bank statements as well, should your client need it.

Have a good day,

Lloyds to batch payments - but not sure how the authorisation process works as I am the only one to raise and authorise the payments.

I think you will find all of the major banks offer this facility.  I have experience of Barclays, Nat West & RBS, but the service is different to the free online banking you get for free with a small business account, The nbank will charge for the more sophisticated systems.  Nat West's is called bankline, it is not free, but is very flexible, I used to upload a 220 wages at a time pay numerous creditors through Bacs, CHAPS Faster Payments and international etc etc.  depending on how you set it up different users can input and then someone else (or even two peple) will need to authorise.

Ask at the bank.

When my husband and I had a business a few years ago you could do this with the Alliance and Leicester account operated by the Post Office.  It used to drive me mad that I couldn't authorise the payment on the same screen as I had set it up on, but it would be ideal in the scenario you have described...assuming that they operate it still the same three years on.

Thanks for all the responses, which are very useful. I'll pass this on to my client.
