Hello,

Can someone help me with a scenario. When you put opening balances into sage do you have to clear The debtors control account and the creditor control account and the Suspense accounts?  Any help would very much be appreciated,

Kind Regards

Hi Paula

When setting up a new company on Sage you should enter your customers and supplier balances first this provides a double entry in the debtors/creditors control and the suspense.

You should then post a journal to these accounts to get rid of the balances. Then you can enter your brought forward balance in your nominal, which will include debtors/creditors balances.

If you don't do the journal before entering your nominal balance you would end up with the debtors/creditors balance twice.

Hope this helps

Regards

Gail
