Payroll Management Exemption

Hi

I wondered if anyone knew if there was an exemption in payroll management level.

I have been doing payroll for several years (10+) and see from the ICB Career Path that there is only indication on the exemption  of membership for bookkeeping.

Hi Louise

I cannot answer your question but as someone else suggested to me why don't you buy the mock exam and see if there is any gap in your knowledge/experience.

As my previous post states, I have done payroll for many years now and I have looked at the mock exam and feel confident that I would pass an exam.  My only problem being that I have looked at all the freebie/trial versions of payroll software and have found that they are not able to give all the reports that are required to complete the exam.

I have done the Sage Instant Payroll Self Study packs and found these very informative, but my 180 days for these have expired and dont want to go to the expense of buying Sage just to do an exam.

Hi Louise,

There is a free payroll software that you can download called 12Pay.  It has had good reviews from posters on another forum and as it is a fully working programme you should be able to print off the reports required.

I have downloaded it but haven't actually looked at it yet.

Hi Louise

i would re-look through your self study pack as I have just purchased one and im sure I read that you get an extra 30 days on top of the 180 day trial, I'm not at home at the minute so cannot double check, but its worth a look as this could get you through the exam, hope this helps Laughing

Hi Louise.

I certainly got my PM.dip via the exemption route but that was some years ago now and I don't know if it is still possible.

I have looked at 12pay and Moneysoft payroll software but they dont give you the same information that Sage would for exam purposes.

I don't know what the current exam position is but I use Moneysoft and it was certainly adequate for my Level III payroll qualification.

It may be that then trial download doesn't achieve what you require - having said that I have had occasions in the past when my licence has expired on a client site and I didn't have the licence number to hand (now keep it on my phone) and downloaded the trial version just to be able to run the payroll.
