Accounting software for LINUX

Hello all,

I saw the thread about software for MACS and I wondered is there anyone out there running accounting software on Linux?

I'm intending to run Quickbooks or VT+ through VirtualBox on Fedora 15, but I was wondering if there are any native alternatives?

Has anyone used GnuCash for bookkeeping in a practice?

I'm not sure there will ever be a reliable accounts package for linux. I'm all for open source software but there is a problem when it comes to commercial applications - what if it doesn't work properly and miscalculates VAT returns? Under the terms of any open source software you have not right complain if it doesn't work correctly and I don't think the tax man would be at all sympathetic.

Have a look at the warranty disclaimer on gnu cash.

cheers
Mike
