I am thrilled - I have been offered a job with a Bookkeeping Company to work for 3 days a week.

This will give me lots of working experience - and will look good on my CV when advertising for private clients.

Perserverence and patience does pay off - I enrolled on-line with a recruitment agency who sent me for interview (the first one they sent me on too) - it was between two of us - and after a couple of days wait - I was offered the job - and am now excited at starting next week.

• I have passed my level 1 and 2 manual and currently doing level 3 plus a sage 50 course at college. I am having great difficulty in moving forward. I am applying for jobs and work with agencies but they all state a minimum of 2 years experience is required and the voluntary work available seems virtually non existant. I would like to gain experience then set up on my own. I made an appointment with business initiative and am doing a course about becoming self employed and marketing etc which I hope will help move me forward. I hope all this study and expense pays off in the end.

Jacky keep perservering

I am 56 and was redundant 2 years ago and thought my career was over. Since then I have worked hard and passed level 1 2 and 3 manual and computerized as well as payroll diploma.

I managed to get a part time position doing a bit of bookkeeping and then progressed to a full time position within a company doing bookkeeping and payroll.

This year I passed  both my level 3 exams and also landed a brilliant job with a progressive firm of accountants to set up and manage their new bookkeeing division.

So it just shows what you can do if you are determined to succeed as I was.
