Hi,

What steps need to be taken when an employee gets a new company car? The employee in question already has a company car but it is being replaced with a completely different car.

Do they need to contact Inland revenue to get a new tax code issued? Or does this have to been done via the self-assessment route?

Perhaps you need more info, but any advice or questions are welcome

Hi Kerry

From April 2011 you can submit a change of vehicle online using the P46 (Car) form

I have pasted the link from the HMRC website dealing with this.

If I would were you I would argue this is a benefits in kind payroll issue and should be dealt with by the person who does the payroll.
