Hi All,

This is my first post to the forum, so I hope I am asking the right sort of questions.

I have just completed my Membership Entrance Paper to become an Associate member and am waiting for the results.  Meanwhile, I'd like to start some basic payroll training (so I can offer this service to clients), but the Level III course/exam on this site says it's for advanced studies.

Where do I start? I've never studied payroll before, so I beed the basics.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Alison

I would start studying for it now.  You don't have to enter for the exam until you're ready so if you do find it tricky you can take as long as you like.  You won't know until you've had a look at the training material.

Thanks Shirley.  I shall have a think about it, as I have the Self Assessment course at the moment.

Hi Alison

The ICB Level III Diploma in Payroll Management starts at the very beginning of payroll with the basics and shows you how to complete tax and national insurance, complete P11s, SSP, SMP etc and you dont have to have had a previous payroll knowledge to complete it.

The course we run comes in 2 stages - firstly you complete all the manual payroll and then put the knowledge into a computerised payroll software package.

This will then give you the qualification to complete payroll for clients along with their books!

Good luck with the self assessment course.

Hi Shirley, what do you think about the CIPP payroll technican certificate? it seems the ICB payroll diploma is not quite as in depth as the CIPP payroll technician certificate although ICB payroll covers both maunal and sage.

I'm struggling to decide which qualification I should choose.

Thank you.

Justin
