Self Assessment Textbook

Hello,

I've recently passed Level 1 and 2 of the old syllabus and want to self study for the Self Assessment exam.

I was told this morning by the ICB that the Self Assessment textbook won't be available until the end of September.

Can anybody recommend a textbook that I can buy until the SA textbook becomes available?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I can't recommend a textbook, however, go onto the HMRC website and start reading all of the documents in the Self Assessment area... You can download the SA forms and all of the notes to go with them... These are a great source of information and certainly a great place to start familiarizing yourself with all things SA related.

Hello JP,

Hopefully the text book will finally arrive late September then. I ordered mine at the end of May and so far the expected availability date has changed each month, initially start of July, then the end, then mid August...

Hello,

 

How I managed to study for the  Self Assessment Exam is revised through the HMRC website and I am now preparing for the exam. I am wondering if anybody could be extremely kind to me by sending over any mock exams ? I would be extremely appreciated if anybody can help me dearly.

Hi Gordon

I've got one but it's for 2011-12, so quite old. Have you tried the online mock yet? This may be a better course of action.

I remember that someone out one of the group meetings mentioned getting a copy of something like the Mail Tax Guide for the relevant year, which may be pefereable to wading through the HMRC website.
