Birmingham meetings

Hi

Is the Birmingham branch still operating?

Only I used to get invites, now I get them for Shropshire.

I would prefer to get invites to Brum if possible.  Is there a way I can change whom I get invites from?

Thank you very much

Hi Sky Blue

I really hope that the Birmingham branch is still operating. As regards the invites you just get invites for all of the meetings you are closest to. I am still interested in running a day time Black Country meeting if anyone is interested.

Very best wishes

Wolverhampton / Walsall.

I definitely believe a black country branch would be cool.

I would be interested in attending a black country meeting as I am based in Dudley and I have had to attend meetings in Stratford upon Avon previously.

Thanks Katie and Skyblue.

If theirs enough support and one does start would you prefer a morning or an afternoon meeting? I loved the Birmingham meetings and hope that they will startt again soon, but Ive also attended the daytime meetings in Coventry, which are really good. I'll be honest if either the Telford or the Stratford upon avon meetting were in the daytime, then I would definately attend them, but being in the evening, the throught of coming home afterwards puts me off.

Look forward to hearing everyone elses views and ideas.

Kind regards and very best wishes

Is there any news regarding the next Birmingham meeting?

Thanks

Hi Elaine

Its interesting that you say you'd attend the Telford meeting if it was during the day.

I will ask the Telford group next time as to how many would prefer a day time meeting time. I would imagine if it was held during the day, that a 'morning' or an 'afternoon' would be better, otherwise it would affect the whole day - am I correct?

I'm going to a QuickBooks event at Halesowen on Thursday - this is on at 3pm, which is an absolutely brilliant time for me - enables me to get most of my work for the day done, then go on over to Brum - is this the sort of thing that would suit you?

Hi Carol

Yes I was thinking morning or afternoon as you say so that it doesnt affect the whole day. Im going to a quickbooks event on thursday but im going to the morning on at 10am. I presume its the same one. Its a shame we are not going at the same time. should be good though. It would be nice if you do have a daytime meeting. I'll look out for you on thursday depending what time it finishes. Have a nice week.

very best wishes

Hi Elaine

I didn't do the tour - but I thought the QuickBooks conference was superb. Very informative and really good to meet the team. I had lots of chats with a number of them and I thought the talks and presentations were very good too. I learnt 2 or 3 new tips and tricks too :-)

I think QuickBooks Online is now coming on leaps and bounds - at last........a few months ago, it was very frustrating in many ways, but now, they have really got it together as to the needs of everyone, and are improving it very rapidly.

I'm pleased to be able to be loyal to them again ! What did you think?

Hi Carol

Yes I thought it was really good too. Everyone was really helpful. They went out of their way to find the answer to a question for me as regards a new client who may chance from quickbooks to online. I was very impressed. it was also nice to meet other bookkeepers and accountants. Had a really good morning and I thought the food was superb. Don't know whether yours was the same but ours was delicious. Ive had the email today with the new 2015 desktop download. Can I download it on the same computer as the 2014 edition without effecting it? I bought a windows 8 machine last year to put my 2014 on as I was still on XP. Glad you had a good day too.

Hope to see you again soon. Have a good weekend.

Kind regards and very best wishes

Elaine

Yes I believe there was one this month, which I couldnt make. Sarah Dearney chaired it . Havent been to one for a long time now, due to not being a driver. So I am asking all the Brummies out there if anyone could give me a lift to the next meeting. I am on Chelmsley Wood Birmingham.

Hi guys

We had a Birmingham meeting this last Thursday, did you not get an invite Skyblue?

The next one is pencilled in for April 30th, again meeting at the BPS just off Broad Street.

Birmingham branch still is active, we had a break for a short while but all's good and we're back to it now.

Is there anything specific anyone wants to discuss or anything they want me to arrange a speaker for? We've covered so many topics over the years Im wondering also if anyone wants a refresh on anything historic or even if they're simply struggling with something we can happily table it to the group

Let me know if there's anything and hope to see you on the 30th April

Take care

Sarah 😁

Hi Everyone

I've got to unfortunately let you know that we're having to cancel this Thursday's Birmingham branch meeting.

Our speaker has had an accident and seriously damaged his back and is currently housebound and unable to drive.

It's too late for us to plan a whole new meeting as it does take rather a lot of time and research to find content, topics and make it interesting for you all and it's too last minute to get another speaker out so we're going to postpone

I'm so sorry not to have been in touch before now - we found out late on at the weekend and I did immediately contact ICB HQ and asked them not to send the invites out. I did also ask ICB to email everyone to let them know but they've just emailed to advise me they're going to email out with the rearranged meeting so keep an eye out for it would you.

Please accept my apologies once again and I'm sure you all wish our speaker a speedy recovery which I will pass on when I do get to speak with him next.

If you could assist me by advising anyone you know who hasn't access to the forum I'd be grateful

Thanks in advance and see you at the next one

Sarah

Hi Sarah

Just out of interest - if there are a number of people that may not find out in time, that the meeting is cancelled, why don't you still go to it, to cater for those, then have an informal meeting. We've had a couple of informal meetings now, at Shropshire, and they go down really well. Everyone just chats to everyone else about bookkeeping problems, concerns and experiences that they have right now.

> Hiya Carol,
Thanks for this.

I did think about doing that but we would still have to pay for the room and obviously with the delay on the invites going out from ICB we wouldn't know how many people would turn up so we're going to postpone.
Thanks for the suggestion though matey

See you soon

 Hi Sarah

I did know about your meeting.

It seems that emails from London do not reach Nuneaton.

Hmm too far from Capitol? ☺

I think that we should flag this problem.

When is your next meeting?

We do have a Dudley meeting that is during the day. I've been attending for a few months and it's very good.
