Hi everyone and a belated happy new year !

First of all apologies for the shortage of 2014 SY branch meetings, had a  few issues that needed my attention. However I'm back now aqand raring to go !!

I attended a branch chairs meeting with ICB erlier this week and there are some good things happening soon !! In particular for our lovely students and members just setting up their business Smile

I have dates for all of this year for our SY branch meetings. The first one is on Friday 27th February and this is A FREE ONE !!!!

I've moved office to Handsworth in Sheffield (just off the Parkway and literally a few mins from our old meeting venue) so this is where this meeting is to be held (there's a big meeting room in the building and plenty of places to park). This first meeting is to be 10.00-12.00 and opportunities after to have informal chats with each other (I've booked the room til 13.00)

This first meeting is to get us all back together again to discuss what you want to get out of our meetings and also timings of our meetings. I want to get a feeling from you all as to whether you want to have morning, afternoon or after work meetings.

I've also got some great guest speakers lined up already for future 2015 meetings including Quickbooks and FA Simms (Already confirmed) and waiting to hear back from Sage and Xero and marketing and web design people.

I also am in need for a Deputy Branch Chair, so if you are interest please either send me a private message through the SY ICB facebook group or drop me an email at bev@flexaccounting.co.uk

Finally (for now !) Seen as the majority of us are on Facebook (sorry yes I am guilty of this too!) I've set up and South Yorkshire ICB Branch Group. Please, please please join this group as I will be posting more on there about ICB news, info on branch meetings and general chatting amongst each other.  Please put this link in your browser to access our Facebook page directly :  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1539085766342807/

Oh yes and finally finally !!, I met up with the lovely ladies Sharon Eyre (West Yorkshire) and Catherine Pyman (North Yorkshire) thsi week and hopefully we can all join forces and do an annual/6 monhly Yorkshire get together. GO TEAM YORKSHIRE !!!!

So let's make 2015 our biggest and best meetings !! Please ocme along to the ifrst meeting and February and please join the SY ICB Facebook group.

See you soon,

Great idea Bev, I will let you know the dates of the North Yorkshire meetings and when Sharon has planned the South Yorkshire ones we can then have a look to see what date would be good to plan a Team Yorkshire meeting.

Was good to spend some time with yourself and Sharon. Will be good to share some ideas/best practices going forward.

Have a great weekend,

Catherine

General question, would anybody be going from Doncaster (will share costs) or passing Sheffield train station and be kind enough to pick me up please?

many thanks in advance, Adrienne Smile

Following this morning's branch meeting I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone for being so nice and welcoming on what was my first meeting. I had been apprehensive for a while but I'm so glad I finally did go (although I could now kick myself for being so silly and not doing it sooner) It was nice to meet a few different people who are at different stages of progression in their bookkeeping careers, I came out feeling very enthusiastic and raring to put my skills to some good use. A special thanks to Linda Skelton who was talking to me from the beginning and discussed a few different aspects of running your own practice and also to Alison Blackburn and Joanne Rich who all very kindly offered their advice. I look forward to attending future meetings and would recommend them to anyone thinking of going along.

Many thanks

Gemma
