Gloucestershire ICB Branch Meeting 18th March 2015

Hi,

I have just qualified as an Associate Member of the ICB and very much want to start attending Gloucestershire Branch Meetings. Unfortunately, I am disabled and can not drive. I live in the Ebley area of Stroud (about half an hour's drive away from Gloucester, where the meeting is being held). There are no buses I can get on at that time of night and I can't afford a taxi.

Is anyone on here going from roughly my area and could give me a lift in return for petrol money?  I can get my partner to drop me off near the motorway if that would help.

I would be very disappointed not to be able to attend Branch Meetings, so would be eternally grateful for any help.

Thanks! Smile

Hi there!

I am the Glos branch chair and I would very much like to help you out. I need to check if any other members live near you. Which junction could you get dropped near to?

My email address is kim@kwbookkeeping.co.uk, if you can send me an email with your contact details then I am sure we can sort something out :) I will give you some more info about the branch too.

We very much look forward to meeting you.

Best Regards

Kim

Hi Liz,

Congratulations on becoming a member, I have just completed BA4 so hopefully shouldn’t be too long before I can get some clients too.

Like you I am disabled and cannot drive which is partly reason I thought being a bookkeeper would be a good idea due to home working and flexibility. Also I can’t get to the Gloucestershire meetings as I live in the Nailsworth area, so have the same issues re non-existent public transport.

This may sound strange (I’m not planning on going to the March meeting anyway) but if I were go to an event, it’s more likely I would go to one in the Bristol area. They normally hold their meetings at the Globe which has excellent bus links Temple Meads Station or Bath and the get a train to Stroud or Cam & Dursley. It would be expensive, so I decided to wait until there is a subject I am particularly interested in.

All the best

Mike

Hi mike & liz (hi kim)

You would be very welcome to join the avon branch at the globe. Our next meeting is on 14 April and Geoff Cole of Burton Sweet Accountants is giving a presentation on The Budget 2015. He is a great speaker and this is his 3rd budget presentation for us.if you can get to bath spa rail station I am sure we could organise some transport to the venue and back. It is 4 miles from the station to the globe, so a taxi is not out of the question either. The meeting starts at 7pm and finishes at 9.30pm. Ring me on 07952 356034 if you need any further info.

Kind regards

Hi Mike, Kim and Mike,

Thank you all so much for replying and being so helpful. I'm afraid the Avon branch is out for me, as I couldn't make such a long train journey so late at night unfortunately.

I should have explained that travelling on public transport, although I can do it, makes me very tired and exacerbates my pain. I also wouldn't be too happy as a woman travelling on my own at that time of night.

Evenings are difficult for me at the best of times because of the medication I take, so I think Gloucester is a much better bet for me.

I'll wait to hear from Kim. In the meantime, thank you all again for being so helpful, it's great to know that people are out there who are willing to help.
