Old level 3 computerised, is it ok to use software other than Sage?

Hi,

I am prepping to complete the above but I am using Clearbooks instead of Sage. I have reformatted the chart of accounts to reflect Sage and Sage nominal codes as closely as possible, but I am worried that because I can not edit the BS and P&L format to reflect Sage, that this may be an issue in the exam??

I have ensured that accounts are in the correct category; fixed assets, overheads, liabilities etc, as far as is possible and have no issues regarding balancing TB's but i am not sure how strict the examiners will be on layout.

Has anyone passed Level 3 using software other than Sage & did you encounter any issues?

I had one idea that i could do a cover note to the examiner explaining the accounts that can not be altered to explain the differences.

Grateful for any thoughts on this!

Jenny

I am going to keep a look out on other answers you get. I'm assuming it is fine to use a non-Sage package and that ICB do not favour any one in particular. Mine is called Solar and is also very differemt from Sage. It got me through level II fine. I made no adjustments to make it fit with Sage and I rather think that if I had, ICB would have had difficulty marking my answers.

I completed my Level 3 (old) on 15th March using Sage Instant but after submission I tried the exam paper out on VT Accounts+ and got the same results. VT has partnerships covered as well as not-for-profit, limited companies and sole traders so would be viable for the exam. Having said that, I felt that Sage gave me the best fighting chance - and it worked.
