Has anyone re sat the payroll exam? Just received a grade of 83% and haven't a clue which area I went wrong on! Convinced I did the software bit ok. Do you get the same exam on a resit? In which case I'm not sure how I'm ever going to pass, as I think my answers would be the same second time round! I'm not sure which way to turn!

Hi Sarah, I did my payroll exam just a while ago and whilst I did pass I didnt get a top pass. I felt I had done really well at the time and was a bit disappointed on not receiving 100%, typical me! I believe you can ask for a report on your marked exam which has a fee, best to contact ICB to ask them. It may help you to see the areas that need brushing up on for the resit. Julie.

Hi Nicky
the mock is very similar to the real exam so there is nothing to be afraid of, And Sarah, I would ask for the report if you cannot work out where you went wrong. It costs £25 but its worth it as it helps you concentrate on the bits you didn't know. I took the exam twice and didnt get the same one so there are different exam's out there.
I'm pleased to say I passed 2nd time around - so good luck everyone and stick with it.
best regards

Sarah, I am in the same position as you were, where I cannot for the life of me see where I went wrong on my payroll exam as I also failed with 83%. I am worried about resisting it without understanding where I went wrong, although I did get their guidance on the areas I went wrong, but I would still come up with the same answers. So, when you re sat the exam, was it a different paper?

Hi all,
I have also just failed my Payroll Exam :( I only got 76% very very dissapointed, I am going to call the ICB to ask for some feedback on my exam to see where I may have gone wrong.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get this feedback from them?
Kind Regards

Hi Chrissy
I also failed the payroll exam first time around, but I asked for the report (it costs £25 - you don't get it for free) it took about a week to come but I suppose it depends how busy they are. Then I brushed up on the area's where I lost marks and I'm pleased to say I passed 2nd time around. I admit it's not easy but all the information you need is on HMRC's website.
So my advice to you is - send for your report, do as many mocks as you can get your hands on and take it again.
good luck to you - I'm sure you'll do it.

That's great thanks for you reply, £25 for the report seems a little step considering the cost of my course already! But I suppose needs must!!!
Do you know where I can get my hands on some other moc papers? As I've been given the impression that there is only one available for the Payroll exam (I studied the 2014/2015 paper)
Kind regards and m a no thanks :)

Hay,
No unfortunatly it will be a different exam that you will sit.
There are x2 exams per financial year so for example if this was your first attempt at say the 2016/2017 financial year exam the you can resit again for the same financial year.
I passed on my 3rd attempt, I would recomend getting the report from ICB (costs £25 when I got it) as it goes over the areas that you went wrong so you can focus your revision on these areas.
Also try to get hold of as many past exam papers as possible to revise, only problem with that is that they will probably be for different financial years.
I just checked and I still have a couple on my computer, I'd happily email them over to you if you'd like.
Also depending who your training provider/tutor is they may be able to help you with some revision and guidance.
I know its very disheartening but do stick with it, dont let your hard work go to waste
Kind Regards
Chrissy :)

Oh well thank you Chrissy for your reply. It looks as though others have had same issues, gonna resist immediately and hopefully have success. Positive mind....
