Hi all

I have a new client with a shop selling gifts and clothes, and thus far has been doing the books via excel spreadsheet. She is keen to start using a proper accounts package (as am I!!) and wondered if anyone felt one partiuclar package is best for retail? I aldready use Sage and xero, but was thinking Quickbooks online ? I am very aware of the monthly cost so was going to steer away from xero simply due to this.

If anyone has any recommendations I would be very keen to hear them

many thanks

Brightbook - free cloud software - I don't currently use it but have setup an account - looks fine for small basic accounts.

Solar Online - £9 plus Vat per month for non-Vat business - I currently use desktop version but that is being phased out - however excellent software.

Have a look at V T transaction - they do a cash book that's free to download - its excel based so she should get the hang of it pretty quickly.

Many thanks for your suggestions folks!! she is VAT registered, and I suspect may want to use the package to also undertake some stock taking - which complicates things slightly

will investigate your suggestions

kind regards!!

QBO is pretty good and not bad valuefor money.

Quickfile is also good and is  free for the basic package which can be used for VAT however.  It has basic stock capabilities but could be what your looking for.  Have a look and see.
