Is anyone using Brightpay Payroll software please.

I first came across the company at the ICB Sumit in London last year.

I am a bureau user looking for new payroll software and would love to here from anyone using this program (the good and the bad) before I make a decission.

Thank you Smile

Hi Shirley,

I moved some of my clients onto Brightpay midway through this tax year as my other software was going to charge for the pension module add-on.

I can honestly say that the software is superb and the 'help' section explains everything if you need help.

I have had to email their support a few times and have always had a response within about 30 minutes.

It totally handles auto-enrolment for you and they have had quite a few webinars on the subject -some free and others chargeable but you get a CPD certificate.

Hi Shirley

I use Brightpay and have done for two years now; the price is reasonable for the annual bureau licence, and as Marilyn said, support is great - I always telephoned rather than emailed, and I have ALWAYS got through quickly (compare that with the bigger firms!) and spoken straight away with someone who knows what they are talking about.

It's really easy to use - the mid-year start is a little complicated the first time you do it, but that is the same with all software solutions.

In terms of the AE pensions, it is a dream, especially if any of your clients are using NEST.

I like the simplicity of downloading any HMRC notifications as well - really straightforward, and applying them is the click of a button.

I also found out that as a bureau, they have said you can install the software on two machines, and use the data in the cloud - I haven't done this as no need for my practice, but worth considering as a back-up in case your PC has problems at any time.

Hi

I am also currently evaluating payroll software and have only used sage payroll before how does Brightpay compare to that would you say and are there any others I should look at, one friend of mine uses payroll manager but I did not like the look of that?

Thanks

I'm currently using Brightpay, before I was using quickbooks payroll as I use the software for all my clients' books.  I actually really liked quickbooks payroll, takes a while to master, but it's very flexible and does everything most people need.  The only thing I don't like about it are the payslip formats.

Brightpay is a doddle to use, and I think is the nicest looking of all payroll software.  My only gripes with it are that you can't do an unscheduled payroll (like an extra payment for someone part way through a month) and you can't have more than one of the same pay frequency (ie two monthly payrolls one paid on the last day of the month and one on another day).  Other than that it's great, super easy for pensions, as Jonathan said, downloading notices from HMRC is useful, payslips and reports are good etc etc.

I've used moneysoft payroll manager and it's also great as far as functionality goes, it just doesn't look as appealing as Brightpay!!
