Hi,
I'm Alex.
My background is in admin although, in the early noughties, after returning from working abroad, I started working as a chauffeur. It was only meant to be a temporary thing until I found another admin position but, I really enjoyed it and suddenly it was 14 years later. The industry is becoming a lot more competitive though and I found I was working longer and longer hours to make less and less money.
So, I knew I had to make a change and started investigating what office-based options there were. I've always enjoyed working with numbers and bookkeeping seemed like the perfect fit. I worked in the back office of a private bank/clearing house for a decade and many of the procedures I did during that time were bookkeeping procedures and duties - trial balance, account reconciliation, petty cash and, of course, carefully logging all financial transactions.
I've recently achieved Level II and will be starting on Level III imminently.
I do have a question, if anyone can help please? I'm now an AfICB - should I be putting the letters after my name on my CV? And any other tips for finding my first bookkeeping job would be very much appreciated too :)
Alex
