Bookkeeper Summit 2016

Hello everyone,

I am relatively new to ICB and working towards my qualifications.

I have seen the Bookkeeper summit is happening in October over 2 days.

Could anyone let me know what CPD could be happening / on offer on the Sunday? Or what type of things have previously gone on for CPD.

I wouldn't want to sign up for both days but be totally out of my depth on the Sunday!

Many thanks in advance

Hi Donna,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community! Glad to see that you are looking at attending this year’s Bookkeepers Summit. Having recently registered with us, the Summit is a great opportunity to meet fellow bookkeepers who started out in exactly the same position as you.

The Sunday part of the Summit will be taken up by practical workshops that will take place throughout the day and will cover a variety of crucial topics suitable for bookkeeeprs at all levels. Essentially there will be something for everyone.

Delegates will be able to select four sessions to attend throughout the day on topics that they want to hear, so you can be sure that you will get as much out of the day as you can.

If you want to chat about the Summit further, please feel free to call Head Office and speak to me.

Kind regards,

Hi Amy

When will the breakout sessions be published?

Or if you don't know this yet - are you able to say what time the sessions will start?

I'm hoping to travel down to London on the Sunday morning, but want to know whether I'm likely to miss some of the sessions or not - and if so, which ones - i.e. ones that would be important to me or not.

I don't want to have to stop over for 2 nights - it's too expensive!

Hi Carol,

I am just finalising the speakers for the workshops taking place on Sunday 2nd October and I am working towards publishing these by the end of May.

As the sessions are taking place on a Sunday, registration will begin later to allow for travel. Registration is due to begin at 10.30am, and the first session will begin at 11am. In total delegates will be able to select 4 sessions out of 16 to attend.

I hope this helps you planning your travel. In the meantime I am keen to hear any topics or speakers that delegates would like to see during these sessions, so if you have any thoughts please do not hesitate to be in touch.

Hi Amy

I've eventually found the listing on the ICB website of the topics that are going to be available on Sunday at the ICB Summit, but there are no times showing. Are you able to confirm if topics will be on more than once?

We need to book our train travel, but we may not be able to arrive until lunchtime - if we miss a topic that we wanted to attend, it would be great to know that it would be on again in the afternoon.

Are you going to be listing a schedule of when and what topic is available, so we can choose which are important to us and that we'll attend, so we can prepare questions etc? Also, will we have to book on them, or just turn up?

Hi Carol,

Thank you for your message.

I currently have a schedule of when the sessions will be taking place, however we have not realised this information as it is subject to change. I am hesitant to release this information at present until it is confirmed as this may be inconvenient for members who do book based on the information they were provided. As we get closer to the event date, we will be able to release this information to all members.

At this time, any members already booked onto the event will receive an email from myself confirming the timings and asking them to select the four sessions they wish to attend. This will provide enough time for attendees to do any prior research and prepare any questions prior to the Summit. Each workshop has a maximum number of places to ensure a high level of interaction throughout so members will need to reserve their place at each session and RSVP’s will be noted on a first come first served basis.

We are providing a wide variety of targeted sessions to suit the needs of all students and members; therefore it is unlikely that many of the sessions will be repeated. On the day, registration will start at 10:30am with the first sessions to start at 11am. If somebody is late for a session, there will be plenty of handouts and other materials available.

If anyone has any questions about what will be going on during these sessions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

Looking forward to seeing you all in October!

Hi All

Would you please enlighten me as to where I can find the listing on the ICB website of the topics that are going to be available on Sunday at the ICB Summit.

I have tried and cannot find it.  I know the times are not listed and you cannot book yet but I would still like to have an idea of what is going to be on offer.

Thanks

Hello Sue

All the details are on the website..if you click on the link from the main page it says who is on Sunday and Monday.

I would like to know from the ICB when we have to choose our topics we would like to attend? on the day or beforehand?

Hi Sue

The website is a bit dis-jointed isn't it.

You have to click on Resources then Events, then from the menu on the right side click on the 3rd option down which says Bookkeepers Summit - then finally from the menu on the right side again, click on The Speakers. You will then get the 2 buttons that give each day

Having said that.......you don't find out a great deal more.........!! I think the ICB just like to keep us in suspense rather than make us look forward to something. I'm afriad I don't like surprises........being a bookkeeper - I like to plan......!

Hi Amy

Please answer us again.........you've said below

At this time, any members already booked onto the event will receive an email from myself confirming the timings and asking them to select the four sessions they wish to attend. This will provide enough time for attendees to do any prior research and prepare any questions prior to the Summit. Each workshop has a maximum number of places to ensure a high level of interaction throughout so members will need to reserve their place at each session and RSVP’s will be noted on a first come first served basis.

but none of us have had an email yet - and theres only 3 weeks left to go.....

In the glossy brochure that we've been sent - there was no more information about the workshops etc - plus you've said in your write up

........'I know many have already booked their place for these sessions'.....

Well if this is the case - we must all be missing something - or missing out..........where can we book?????

Less than 3 weeks to go now.......I'm getting all the individual emails about each of the speakers - but still no email about booking the workshops!

I was told that if you book on to the summit now, you get to choose your workshops - is this correct?

If so, why haven't we been able to book on to them? Surely there should be some incentive (apart from the early bird price) of booking early??

I really hope there are still spaces on the workshops I want to attend!!

please reply ICB!!!

Hi everyone,

The schedule for the Sunday workshops is just being finalised as the last few topics are being confirmed.

At the end of this week, those who have booked their place for Sunday will receive an email with a full schedule. From this point, each attendee will be able to let ICB know their individual choices. These will be treated on a first come first served basis.

Please note no one has been able to reserve a seat at any of the individual sessions so no one has missed out.

See you all in October.

I understand an email was to go out Friday to everyone but I have not received anything either.  Neither have any of the others members who attend the Northampton Branch Meetings so I think there must be some sort of delay.

Maybe they are waiting for final confirmation from one of the people running a workshop or something.  Hopefully we will hear on Monday.

Regards

Hi,

Are the sponsors going to be there on the Sunday or just the Monday?

Hi,

Some last-minute changes to the schedule have resulted in a short delay in members being able to book their sessions. However, these are being resolved as we speak and the email will be sent today.

In addition, the exhibition will be open on both Sunday & Monday so there's plenty of time to speak to all the software and training providers.

See you in a few weeks,

Hi Amy

Thanks for the info - I have my fingers crossed that the email DOES go out today, because I'm away on a short break from tomorrow until the weekend, so may not be able to email my requests.

The Avalara one is the main one we really need here at Lady of Ledger, so if the email doesn't go out today, would it be possible for you to put us down for 2 places on that just in case??

Just out of interest - the Sunday of the Summit is only 13 days away - so here's hoping you don't need 'a few weeks' more... ;-)

I haven't received anything yet which is worrying.  I don't want to miss the workshops I want!   Is it possible to book them without the email?

Oh dear! I'm not sure...

I got mine at 7pm and it was addressed to me personally, presumably from the booking sheets? It was from Amy so maybe contact her tomorrow? There have been some changes to the programme which were noted in the email. I can send you a copy?

Cheers

Hi all,

Glad to see that you are excited for the sessions taking place at the Summit!

Kate, further to our conversation you are now booked onto the Summit and are able to select your workshops. This was not initially available to you because at the time you had indicated that you were unable to attend.

However, we're really happy you can now join us, and I look forward to seeing all of you in a few days!
