Thinking of "self-study" what do you actually get on a course?

Hello people I'm new (Obviously) and have a couple questions for people who have used or are using a course from home to pass.

Right now I work 'flexible hours' so could never get a position at a college to pass. But a lot of people here seem to have used an ICB training provider (Ideal Schools, Training Link etc) course to pass from home. My question is what do they actually send to you to get ready for the tests? Textbooks? Workbooks? Past Papers for practice? I realise you have access to tutors if you get stuck.

I'm thinking of just buying the Kaplan Level 2 Computer/Manual study & revision books (What happened to Level 1 btw?) and wondering what more I would get spending the extra £££ on the courses. Which I might end up buying anyway if the books aren't enough.

Thanks guys

I have passed level 2, 3 and payroll so far and study with Ideal Schools. I received a course book for each level, a copy of sage 50 and sage 50 payroll to use to complete the course and exams. There were regular tutor marked assignments through each level. I received a mock exam aswell as a free online mock for each exam i've took. The tutor support has been great. Quick replies to my questions. There's a facebook group which has been really useful too. Studying at home it's nice to have contact with people in the same boat. I spent months deciding how to do it and who with. I eventually went with my gut and don't regret it.
