Problems getting a Practice Licence Application Form

Hello

Has anyone else had problems trying to get the Practice Licence Application Forms sent out? I passed my L3 2 weeks ago and I've been working to a tight deadline and pushing myself through exams. I passed on a Friday and gave it until the following Tuesday to request the application form. My records had updated online (PERC and Results) so I called the ICB to request the form. They said one will be with me in a few days. Fast forward one week and the order online was still 'waiting processing', so I called back, received apologies and the order was updated to complete. Then on Thursday I received an email to say that the form should now be with me. I waited as I didn't want to be too hasty but nothing in Fridays' post nor Saturdays. I've received ICB literature about the Summit and my L3 certificate but I just cannot get the application form. I'm getting a little agistated now as I know the process for a licence can take upto 28 days so I'm potentially 6 weeks down when I could be taking my business live and trying to engage clients. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

Thanks

Dean

Try asking for a pdf of form to get going/ Dont forget you will need to arrange PI insurance in order for them to issue licence

Hi Dean,

Mine also took a long time to come through so I phoned ICB and they emailed me a PDF version.

One thing that I've noticed though, you are still registered on this forum as a student even though you have passed your BA7. Have you paid to upgrade to associate member yet? My status changed quite quickly when I did this and my understanding is that you will not be able to apply for your practice licence until you are an associate and you have your PI insurance in place.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. I originally requested an emailed copy of the form but I was told this wasn’t possible as it is in a leaflet format, I think I’ll have to get onto them again today and try to get an electronic format. I’m ready to go with my insurance, I just need to go ahead with my quote once the application is ready to process.

With regards to my current level of membership, I asked about this and I was told that the upgrade to Associate and the licence could be done in one go. I’ll get back onto them and see what’s said.

Thanks

Dean

Hello Dean

If you have still not had any joy with the application form being sent to you via email, post your email address and I'll forward you a copy.

I completed my level 3 in July and rang ICB the next day to request the licence application form which they said they'll send in the post but I prompted them that on the website it indicates it could be emailed to members. I remember them saying I still needed the hard copy but they emailed me the form anyway which i completed and sent off. The good news is that the practice licence was issued in less than a week after i sent the forms. I hadn't received the hard copy 2 weeks later and only got it when I returned from holidays (5 weeks after it was requested). I must say I'm not sure why they insist on sending the hard copy, because it's the forms and a welcome leaflet with information which is all on the website anyway. So may be ICB hasn't gone 'green' yet.

Hello Harriet

I originally requested an electronic copy but Member Services where insistent that they only have hard copies. I called back again and they have stated that it will again be a few days. If you could send me a copy of the form to benstead.dean@gmail.com it would be much appreciated. It’s good to know that it may not take the full 28 days to get it processed to. I know that these things take time and I expect setbacks/delays, but I just don’t want to lose momentum for the sake of waiting for a form to be posted when I can have it in minutes via email.

Thanks for all your help and information.

Dean
