Hi all,

I am currently studying with open study college on the level 2 bookkeeping. Have just had my 1st assignement back after waiting for seems forever to get it back!! and have passed yay! am just awaiting on my 2nd assignement to come back. Do I have to wait to pass that before I can book in for my first exam?? If you pass the first exam do you then have to wait to book the next one?? Sorry for all the questions! I dont seem to get much from my tutor when I email her!

Hi - I have no experience of Open College but it is unforgivable of your tutor not to reply.

I used Training Link where you had to complete a short on line knowledge test before submitting each assignment. They all had to be done in turn one at a time. When you had passed all the assignments then you would be enterd for their mock and only when you passed that, would they enter you for the ICB exam. You could not start the next exam until you had passed the first. I imagine Open College work the same way buit I don't know what your deal was with them.

Although I have had one or two issues with TL the tutors invariably respond straight away but if not it's always the same day or next working day if a weekend. Even mocks only take a day or two to come back. Very quick.

You may wish switching your training provider when you go to Level 3 as that is quite a step up from Level 2. TL offer a bundle of courses including the ICB exam and you may even be able to pay by installments.

well I got my 2nd assignment back this morning and passed yay!! normally the tutor does come back after a day or so to any questions I have but these assignments have taken up to 2 weeks to get back marked, one had corrections needed so took another 2 weeks. But at least all sorted now and passed. Doesnt seem open study send any mocks to us she said to get from here and try one before I do any exams. Would you advise to do a practice mock before trying the exam? dont suppose you have the mock you had that you could email to me at all?? email add is lozstan26@googlemail.com

I have already paid for level 3 & 4 with open study college. Hopefully it will get better?!

I am sorry to read that you have been experiencing problems with your tutor support and I want to look further into this for you.  

Open Study College offers students a first-class home learning experience. Unfortunately, in this case it does not meet our usual high standards.

I can see from the above that Peter has already provided you with some excellent advice on how to progress through the course. I can confirm that it is best practice to take each assessment in order. Once you have passed these you should go on to take your mock and then exam.

I know how important it is for our students to be provided with excellent support, which is why I want to resolve the issues you have raised.
