Just be careful of one thing. I thought I was being clever by allowing myself to fail the real papers in order to get good feedback on where I was going wrong. The rules said I could sit three times, but I was locked out after two and told to wait six months to sit again. I sent an email to ICB to complain about this but didn't get a reply.

What if I fail my exam?
Because ICB examinations are available in every week of the year you can resit your examination as soon as you're ready. You will be required to wait for a period of 24 hours before booking and pay the standard examination fee for your resit. Your resit will be a different version of the same examination, so the questions will be different.
After three failed attempts (two for Payroll and Self Assessment Tax) a candidate may be asked to delay further application until:
a) further study has been undertaken
or
b) the new season's examination papers are available"
As you can see from above excerpt from the live website I am in the right.
