When does a bookkeeping practice start?

For the purpose of registering as self employed with HMRC, I need to know when my bookkeeping practice should be deemed as having commenced. Is it from receiving the practice licence, getting the first client or somewhere in between? I'm inclined to think it's from getting the practice licence as that comes with an entry in the ICB directory, but I'm open to correction.

Hi Sue,

The minute you start advertising your services you should register with HMRC even if you have no clients.

Hello sue

You should register your self employment as soon as possible

for your own self assessment your "start date" would be when you start to trade

the best of luck to you!
