I have passed my ICB Level 2 with 99% exam result. I'm currently out of work been looking for jobs but every one only wants AAT part qualified. My goal is to be self-employed but I need to find something now can't wait till I finish level 3. Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks

Keep at it.  I’ve been with the institute pretty much since it started.  It’s true people get tied up with the whole AAT thing but that’s mainly because they haven’t heard of anything else.  Just keep trying.  I havnt had any problems over the last 20 years.  getting The first job is the hard bit.  Once you have its far easier as you have a proven track record on your cv.  Don’t give up on either trying for jobs or the institute.

Forget about AAT, it's a different qualification. As a qualified ICB member, many doors will be opened as a direct result of your qualification and knowledge of the bookkeeping industry, but you must be qualified and confident in your abilities, or it will not happen (and rightly so!). You can't rush into this without the relevant qualification and knowledge. So, take your time, get qualified and get confident and it will all fall into place...guaranteed.

Best of luck and keep studying...the opportunities are limitless for the professional bookkeeper.
