I have a techincal curve ball. I do the books for two companies that have the same VAT number. The accounts are done with the same software package-Opera. Does anyone know how I can do the VAT for two companies but use the accounting software for submitting a VAT when Making Tax Digital comes in?

I have no idea how Opera works, but I do 2 companies that have group VAT, all on Xero and we use Xero Tracking to separate the companies. All transcations are tracked, and at the end of the year you can split the P&L and BS based on Tracking. It works. It does mean more work in that you have to be diligent on Tracking, but the customer is happy to pay for this extra work.
