BA5 Shocker

I did a BA5 mock yesterday, and got a respectible 91%

Did the actual BA5 exam tonight to find that the questions were nothing like the ones in the mock, which was really annoying.

Failed the actual exam and am frustrated that I can't find out why.

Hi Stuart

You should have received a free report following the exam that will show you where you went wrong.

You should be able to see this if you go to MyICB. Under the MyICB Options on the right han dside click on Check Results.

This will then list all of the Exams (both mock and live) that you have taken along with the free reports.

Revise the sections that you went wrong on and when ready retake the exam.

I am sure that you will pass it as you got over 90% in the mock.

Please note, if you are not already aware, that there are two mocks for this exam.

I would advise doing them both if you have not already done so.

Good luck with the retake and your future studies.

Kind regards

Gordon

Did you only do one mock? Because there are 2 and the second is much harder and incorporates adjustments to a net profit etc and is defo more tricky as I just did it and gor 60% because I didn't read question correctly and it was worth 45% for the whole question. I would say do another mock and brush up on things like sale of assets and mostly everything from earlier sections in partnership lessons.

Thanks Gordon,

I did get the free report, but it only says which sections any errors are in, it doesnt detail the individual errors, which as you can imagine, isnt helpful.

 Hi Stuart,

I just did the BA5 mock today (the harder version with the adjustment question).  If you want to see the corrections for your mistakes you just need to go to the page on the review and click on the answer box for each item you got wrong.  A pop up box then appears and shows you the correct answer and an explanation.  That has been really helpful for me with all of the mocks so far as then I just brush up on those areas.

I am going to take my real one this week so hopefully it will go OK.  I hope your retake is a success!  At least these ones are only a couple of hours rather than the nightmare BA4 marathon :-).

Best of luck, I am just sitting down to do the BA6 proper exam, then it is just the big one, providing the next 2 hours go to plan 😊
