Hi

I want to do a Diploma in Payroll but i need advise or recomendation on good  training provider

Until now i did all the training via IdealSchool online and i am happy with them and the prices they offer. My only problem is that they will give me Sage payroll.

I was looking at training-link and they also offer Sage Payroll plus 2 sage payroll certificates but i was wondering how those certificates will in use if i dont use Sage in my day to day work at the moment

Also i need a good training provider who can teach on calculating holiday pay on more complicated cases

I do understand that the most important part of the study is the core material and even without any software we should be able to complete the period payroll ( as it was done when my mother was in accountancy back in the 90s) but getting used to a software just to pass my exam is a bit pointless at least from my point of view now

Any advise wil be much appriciated

Thank you

Stick to Ideal Schools. I did every ICB Course with them and they are brilliant.

Sage is necessary evil to complete the Payroll Diploma (don't get me started on why it has to be sage software). More importantly, the course will teach you how to manually calculate payroll, which is the key skill to be learnt. Once you pass, those skills will be very helpful regardless of the software you use.

Ironically, as I have said before, all professional bodies want us members to embrace modern techonology and use cloud and latest software. However, their exams are based on old antiquated software, which students have to invest in but hardly ever have to use again!

Hi Vip

Thank you for the advise

Yes I am very pleased with Ideal Schools as I did all 3 levels of ICB with them few years ago and I did actually enqure them about the payroll diploma and they are happy to help me complete the course. The only thing I was trying to avoid is using Sage as i really dont like their accounting software (personal view) but if this is inevitable as it looks I will do it just get on with it and use it for the exam.

As you mentioned the most important is how to do it manually then there are loads of different payroll products out there and some of them have a good support if you know what you need to accomplish they will guide you how to do it with their product

Thank you once again

Hi.

Have you considered buying the icb text book and putting yourself through exam?

I did it this way.

Hi Dave

Yes i have considered it as an option which is still on the table.

Is there any chance you have some mock exam so i can see what they ask you do to?

Thanks

Hi Bedros. I don't have anything left on it and it's worth getting text book and mock relating to the tax yr you will take exam in
