Hi all

I have a client who needs to be moved to cloud software and she has issues with the legal jurisdiction of the date.

She has said that she wants to use Xero as her previous ICB bookkeeper stated that the data held on their servers is the property of the country of origin.

I am a Quickbooks user and Intuit have told me that their servers are located in the USA and therefore they have jurisdiction.

Any help on this quandry would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi David,

Xero Servers are in EU and GDPR compliant.

David, you are not too far from where I am, fancy meet?

My practice is Xero only, so sometimes I get clients who want to use something else and I turn them down. Would be good to know a good ICB bookeeper nearby, that ccould help those clients.

Let me know.

Hi David,

Is your client using legal management software in his/her practice or is he/she very small.

I did legal bookkeeping for a few years having been brought in by the new accountant who set the client up with Sage.  That turned out to be a nightmare because of the client accounts.  The cloud versions of most of the regular providers tends not to be as robust as the desktop and therefore are unlikely to be set up for client accounts.

For the last year or so I was there we changed over to speciliast software.  I'm not sure if any of the specialist versions offer accountancy alone without the practice management.

The person I dealt with had been a legal book-keeper previous and so was very easy to communicate with.  She is is now with Leap and her name is Mariska Lloyd.  I'm not sure who the 'sales' person is but it wouldn't harm to contact her and say you'd been recommended to have a chat.

 Cheers.

Moira
