Hi,

What kind of free software (other than Sage) is used by students  self-studying for A3 exam? Any pointers will be much appreciated.

 Hi Rebecca,

For all exams with a Computerised aspect, I've always used the 30 day trials of Quickbooks :) I passed the relevant exams so definitely works!

Good Luck!

Hi,

Did you use Quickbooks Desktop or Quickbooks online version?

I have mac laptop, hence tried the version of Quickbooks online and also the free trial version of Sage Business Cloud Accounting. However the reports do not show the nominal code or the VAT categories. Is this an issue with only the online cloud versions of these softwares?

Hi, I'm just about to take the A3 exams, but I'm concerned that the details and layout of Quickbooks reports are quite different to the Sage reports.  Did you have to do lots of fiddling about in the exams?

I've struggled to amend the QB reports to present exactly the same info as the Sage ones and worry about how strictly this is marked.

 Hi Jane,

I ended up taking my A3 exam in Xero and cleared successfully. I played around quite a lot with auto generation of the reports in Xero to retrieve the data/figures same as in the answer sheet of mock exams. All the very best wishes for your A3 exam.

Ah, thanks.  i'll see how I get on in the mock, but even with lots of fiddling, i can't get Quickbooks report to show the same kind of detail (e.g. the split lines), but this might be a Quickbooks-specific thing.
