Companies House ID checks

I only do accounts for my family at the moment...and I'm having real challenges with all the new Companies House legislation introduced on 18th November!

My son needs to do his ID check for his limited company by 14th January (random date, not linked to anything in his accounts!). CH make is so so difficult to understand what needs to be done and we keep hitting brick walls, every way we turn. My husband has also tried doing his ID checks for his company and has hit different brick walls Cry.

The only person who has so far been able to obtain the illusive ID check code is me!!

Does anyone have advice, please, as to how my family obtain their ID checks to comply with Companies House legilsation...without having to pay expensive Accountants to do the checks for them in their micro businesses.

Thank you

Karen

The 14th deadline is because your son was born in January and that's how PSC deadlines are calculated when the details didn't match a director that would be confirmed with a confirmation statement.

If you're near to Aberdeen and can get into my office I do the verifications, but only in person if you're not a client already. There must be people out there that are doing a mediocre job on the verifications but given Companies House has the power to cancel verifications they don't have confidence in I think you're best investing in one done well.

I've been doing it with Option 1 route, but also storing enough evidence for Option 2 route also so that if Companies House enquire then I can provide further evidence straight away. I've also been overdoing the Option 1 route keeping infrared, ultraviolet and visible light scans of the documents as well as data on the "cryptographic" check.
