Trying to get a job

Hi All,

I got my Level 2 qualification in June.  I've been job hunting since then, but all the adverts I've seen require 3-5 years experience.  Can anyone recommend the best place to look for entry level jobs for someone with the qualification, but with little experience as yet?

Hi Nicky, Its worth contacting local bookkeepers to ask for work. I have been lucky enough to find an opportunity, yes it is minimum wage and yes I had to reduce my hours with a better paying client (non bookkeeping related) but i see it as an investment in my future. I am gaining full experience in bank recs, PTR's, VAT returns, confirmation statements etc - everything supervised. Come September, I will be doing one day a week at a local accountancy firm (free, work experience) as i want to understand how a larger company handles their customers. Believe me, theory is great but no substitute for actual work experience. I know this post probably doesnt help, but the opportunities are out there if you can accept minimum wage.

Hi Lucy, thanks so much for replying, apologies for taking so long to get back to you, but I didn't realise anyone had replied lol.  That is actually really good advice, thank you.  Minimum wage is actually more than I am earning at the moment Sealed so tat wouldn't be a problem.  I'll start emailing around today.  Thanks so much for responding, I really appreciate it.

All the best,

Nicky
