Hi All

Here's a question for you.

I have just received an invoice with VAT on it. Nothing strange there?

The invoice is for a magazine from the police publications for one of the lawyers I work for.

They are registered for VAT but I thought that printed publications, magazines, books were 0%???

Your thoughts please.

I personally believe they are zero rated for VAT.  See VAT notice 701/10. Please let me know the out come ?

Hi David,

Well, thats a strange one, on the government's website it clearly states that books, publications and magazines are 0% so unless its something to do with police publications ??  I'd be inclined to ring them at the vat office, but you may get conflicting views there - I know I have in the past

Just emailed the VAT office for their guidance. Will let you know when I do.
