VAT on Heating Oil for home use

Hi

Can anyone advise me if VAT can be claimed on utilities supplied to a domestic property?

My client works from home most of the time. I claim the usual "Use of Home" but have never tried to claim any VAT on the utility bills.

Is this something that I should have claimed?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi I'm new to this but in my opinion if your are claiming tax relief on a percentage of the property as is being used, I.E 20% as one room is used that is 20% the size of the home, then surely the heating bill would be 20% of the total figure also.

This is what reclaiming VAT - Gov.uk says;

"You work from home and your office takes up 20% of the floor space in your house. You can reclaim 20% of the VAT on your utility bills."

This also implies that you can claim 20% of the utility bill.

Hope this helps.
