ICB is ready when you are

You can register as a student and take your first exam today - there are no entry requirements, you don't need a work placement or a bookkeeping course. You just need to register as a student and take the qualifications in order.

Find a bookkeeping course or choose a bookkeeping textbook

If you do not yet have any bookkeeping knowledge, you can take a bookkeeping course with one of our Accredited Training Providers.

If you have some experience you might prefer to buy a bookkeeping textbook in our Shop and work through it at your own pace. Most of our students train from home by part-time 'distance learning' but you can also study bookkeeping at college.

ICB provides CPD events and support for qualified bookkeepers, but we do not provide bookkeeping training for the core qualifications.

Bookkeeping qualifications that put you in control

ICB qualifications can be completed in any week of the year, so you can become a professional bookkeeper in your own time, around your job, family or other commitments.

ICB's practical bookkeeping qualifications will equip you for an accounting job or for setting up your own bookkeeping business, so you have the flexibility to move between roles if your circumstances change.

If you want to run your own bookkeeping business you're legally required to be licensed by an AML Supervisor. We can act as your supervisor if you're a member even if you don't have prior experience, you'll just need to apply for a Practice Licence. We've supported thousands of people to take control of their career and set up their own bookkeeping business. Our online resources, webinars, events, legal templates, technical support line and supportive community will help you succeed.

If you're running a bookkeeping business already we can provisionally act as your AML Supervisor whilst you apply for membership.
