The worlds of accounting, finance and bookkeeping are getting to grips with how best to tackle the challenges of the future.

The list of pressing issues is forever changing. But here are some of the areas that are always hovering close to the surface…

  • Will robots/artificial intelligence take jobs and remove the need for repetitive and mundane tasks?
  • What does the new workforce (that’s millennials/Generations X,Y and Z!) really want from the bookkeeper of tomorrow?
  • Will HMRC’s making tax digital policy make life easier, faster and more accurate? Or will it be the logistical and legislative nightmare that some are predicting?
  • Will Brexit ever actually happen?
  • How will accounting and finance adapt and survive in this changing landscape?

So these are some of the topics keeping the sector awake at night. And they will be right at the top of the agenda when key figures from across the industry in the north of the UK meet in just a few weeks’ time.
