Get the inside scoop on Accountex 2019 with Zoe Lacey-Cooper, Portfolio Director at Diversified UK

How did you come to be working on Accountex?
I've been working in media for 20 years and at Diversified for 6 years. We acquired the Accountex Brand in 2016 and I've been working on it ever since. Out of all the industry verticals I've worked in over the years, accounting is where I've made the most friends. You are more supportive than any industry sector I've experienced.
I love how forward thinking the sector is- crypto currency, emerging trends, tech.
Who attends Accountex?
We have a massive mix of different accounting professionals, from the classic early explorers who are just learning about the cloud and have no idea how to implement it, all the way up to the inspiring progressives like Will Farnell. We'll always have a roughly 65/30 split: 65% in an accounting/bookkeeping practice, 35% in business.
What themes are cropping up this year?
The themes are so diverse, everything from tax and compliance to marketing and sales. 2019 has certainly seen a change in focus from last year which was all about GDPR and MTD. Accountants are waking up to start thinking about their tech and how to implement new tools.
Recruitment is a big topic this year as well because the progressive firms are being more proactive about how they sell themselves and they need to find marketers and sales people. The cloud software super-users are now hiring IT people to manage their tech stack. Reed Recruitment is exhibiting and there's a recruitment roundtable.

Who are the ones to watch?
Obviously all the big names will be exhibiting, but Silverfin, Futrli, FreeAgent, ReceiptBank, TaxCalc and AccountancyManager are all going big this year and it's so rewarding to see them doing so well and how far they've come.
Why should ICB Bookkeepers come?
We're strengthening our partnership with ICB and are committed to working with you to give bookkeepers a platform. Bookkeepers are in so much demand across the sector, outsourcing is massive! We want to see more and more bookkeepers at Accountex.
Your own Garry Carter is back to host another break out session and round table and we're doing everything we can to help you sift through all the content so you can find the most relevant thing. If you sign up early we'll tell you about the round table sessions and exhibitors and make the information easily accessible.

Accountex London features over 230 leading industry exhibitors alongside a packed education programme with over 250 seminar sessions, covering Tax, Technology, Cloud, Pensions, Pricing and every other subject relevant to the modern accountant or bookkeeper.
