Hi I would love to find a meeting nearer to me but they seem to be many miles away would anyone have any news about meetings near to manchester. Think the nearest i saw was leeds.
Passed my first exam and looking to get up graded asap

Hi yes i would be interested in manchester meetings think our nearest at the moment is leeds.
I have to get up graded to associate then i am able to go to members meetings.
I think its time to contact the chap who is head of north west region and see what we can sort out.

Yes thanks i know there are events but it would be nice to get one set up that students could go to just to get more ins and outs about things without getting in a mudddly.
The forum is great but i think that sometimes people need experienced people to set them straight with what is acceptable work to CIAB.
I am passionate about the association and look forward to learning as i grow my knowledge and the magazine is great really enjoy it.

Hello,
I'm just wondering if there are any events that take place closer to Preston as I'm not really able to travel to Manchester due to work and needing to be available to pick my daughter up from nursery (and then school in a year's time) as my husband is not able to leave work as easily as I can.
If there aren't any events that take place closer to Preston - is it possible that some could be arranged to take place in Preston as I know of a facility that may be able to be used.

Has anything happened in the Preston area ... It sounds as if there could be the foundations of a local branch. Let me know if there is still some interest and we can try to set up an initial mtg in the area which can then be advertised on the ICB website and thru the forum. It is difficult to gauge local interest but the only way is to get that first mtg arranged

No I'm not aware of anything being done as of yet.
I would love to help organise a meeting to take place towards the end of January as getting to Preston is not a problem for me, but I can't really travel further afield than that.

Hi all,
I am based in Stockport and so Manchester is ok, and Preston is around 45 mins away so either way I would attend in these areas. Perhaps fair locations for a Branch HQ.
I can offer assistance with organisation if required, if there was demand, as mentioned, it is hard to establish without numbers, I would be willing to discuss organising a Manchester Branch that could work closely with a Preston Branch?

Hello Guys,
I'm pretty new to ICB having joined and started studying in August. I've passed Levels 1 and 2 manual and while waiting for L2 comp' result, i'm studying for L3 manual.
Not being able to attend the awards event recently, I'd like to attend a local seminar or meeting close to home - Runcorn. I'm about 25 mins from Liverpool, 35 mins from Manchester. I'll keep a look out in this area of the forum for more news.

Hi,
I am based in Manchester and would be interested in attending.
However, I would suggest that it would be more appropriate for us to discuss this with the institute's Regional Chairman Khalid Hussenbux, first. It may be that there is no problem with progressing in this manner, but there is an existing structure in place and the right way forward, in my opinion, is to ensure the Institute is aware, and supports fully any and every ICB meeting.
If this has been done already and everything is in order, then I'm happy to support these local meetings.

Pleased to know that you are interested in the setting up of a local branch in the Manchester/Preston area. As you will have seen from my post of 29/11/11 I am a member of the ICB Advisory Council and I have the role of Head of Regions. Accordingly I am working with the ICB to develop the regional groups, their structure and organisation, etc. I am not aware of the developments in the North West that you mention but I have now contacted Khalid and await his response.

Hi Ken, didn't realise that you were head of regional chairs.
There has been no 'development in the North West', as far as I know. Simply, it seemed to me that the most recent series of posts on this thread sounded like they were discussing holding 'unofficial' ICB meetings in Manchester - which I thought might not go down too well. Obviously, thats not the case. My only reason for posting and mentioned contacting Khalid is that I wanted the ICB to be aware of our plans and 'on board', that is all.
Look forward to meeting everyone at our next meeting.
