Professional clearance letter

Hi,

I have just got a new client and need to write a professional clearance letter to the previous Accountant in order to obtain information for me to continue bookkeeping and accounts and tax return at the year end.

The year end is 31 March and the bookkeeping has been done up to 30th November 2010 as that was the last quarter end for the vat return.

I have worked in accounting practice for many years but not recently ( post money laundering regs), I remember that we just wrote a letter enquiring if they had any professional reason why we should not be appointed and requesting the relevant information.

My question is, do I need to add anything else to the letter?

Maybe ICB could give us a template letter, there is one for letter of engagement, this would be a big help.

Thanks for your attention

Carole

“Hi Carole,

You could ring the ICB legal advice line on 0845 060 2345 for guidance.

Don't think we have any templates for this particular letter, however, the helpline might be able to give you one.”
