Hiya,
I've just sent off my application for a practice license, just wondering how long it took for the practice license to come through for other members?
Thanks.

I think I had my number within 5 working days and then the manual within about 7 working days (it was less than the 2 weeks they quote). Good luck with your business

Hi everyone....first post here although I post a lot on other forums :-)
I sent off for my Practice Licence about a month ago, had the MLR manual quite quickly (didn't actually need it as I had one already) but am still waiting for my Licence Number despite one chase up already.

Hi Nikki,
I don't think the application for a Practice Licence automatically comes with your Level II Certificate, you'll have to ask for it. I telephoned the ICB and asked them to send it :-)

My comments may be useful to new bookkeepers. I have been practicing a few years, in a small number of clients The ICB appear to be tightening their belts a bit. I'll explain--When you are renewing your practice the ICB will not issue it without the relevant MLR forms.Do you all understand the 'rig mayroll' that it involves. I think MLR concept is ok, but it is daunting to bookkeepers who are practicing in a small way. Would like to hear anyones thoughts on that. Anyway with myself --I renewed without the form so I had to send the MLR 8 on afterwards. Also ICB pointed out that I was practicing without passing a tax assessment exam. Even though I know enough about it to be able to to it. May be I thought attending all the IR workshops was enough. Is anyone out there doing the same?

Hello
My practice licence application got accepted about 5 days after I sent it off which I found out from the website, but I have had no pack or paperwork and that was about a month ago.
I shall be calling next week to chase it up as I was advised to give it 3 weeks.

Ditto Sandra.
I know my licence is valid because it says so on my members page, but doesn't tell me the number and I've had nothing through the post. Getting a little jittery if I'm honest, don't want to accidentally break any rules - but I am assuming they've given me my old practice number back that I had a few years ago - but no news.
