To VAT or not to VAT

Hello

I am just about to start mailshotting businesses in my area in the hope of getting my business up and running.

Obviously I won't be VAT registered, but some of the potential clients will be.

Can anybody advise on how to advertise the rate?  With VAT split out, with "including VAT" after the figure, or ignore the VAT bit altogether?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If your not VAT registered then your invoices won't have VAT on them.
You could put that your not VAT registered.

Should you have to register for VAT in the future it could be an issue for your clients who are not VAT registered as either you swallow the cost of the VAT or your clients pay more, but that maybe a way off yet.

Hi

Personally I wouldn't include a rate.   You need to promote yourself and outline the skills you have.  A potential client could be put off by the quote.  Once you get the opportunity to meet someone and sell yourself your charge out rate can then be negociated.  If you quote a rate at the outset then you may not then get the opportunity to sell yourself.
