I know it is Easter Sunday and nobody is probably reading this, but I am absolutely delighted - just passed my Level 1 100% distinction - Very pleased.

What is the best to do next? - I bought a package from Kaplan as they had some offers on. So I can do either.

I want to do the computerised part as I am a computer person and used SAGE before and keen to get my hands dirty.

BUT I want to do the manual looking as keen to do trial balance, depreciation, accurals, VAT return etc.

I should have done the ICB training years ago. I am really enjoying it. Smile

Happy Easter to you all and may the Easter Bunny be good to you all.

Hi Clare

Happy Easter!

I took the manual to level II then did the computerised. In my opinion this was the better way to do it. With the manual bookkeeping you get to learn where the figures go and why, with computerised the software as good as does it for you.

NB: you will have to do both by September this year to retain membership.

Good Luck

Hello Clare

I agree with David.  I took all 3 manual levels before I moved on to the computerised level.

It gives you the full understanding of the workings of bookkeeping before you start using the computerised system.  This means that when you move on to the computerised level, you are really only learning how to use it rather than how to do the actual bookkeeping - making it much simpler.

Good luck - and well done on your result.

Kind regards

Thank you David and Sandra, excellant advice.

After scanning through the two courses I decided that it was best to do the manual first. It looks a shorter course but it is probably a lot more intensive. I have already studied drafting a initial balance including suspense accounts as I thought it would help in the level 1 exam. I think it gave me a deeper understanding and thererfore the level 1 exam was comfortable.

For the level I exam I also did 2 mock paper exam and 1 mock on-line. I would recommend anyone doing the exams to do the mock on-line exam first. It really helped and is only a £10.
