Hello

Can someone tell me the passmark for level 2 computerised bookkeeping.  I got 82% and failed!!! Considering I got merits and distinctions for all my other exams (including level 3 manual, I am very dissappointed.

Hi Jane,
The same thing has just happened to me - so I waited for the letter to confirm it and was expecting some form of explanation as to what I got wrong so that I can work on this area for next time. However there was no comment or guidance at all, so I'm left in the dark as to how I failed (84%) and dont know how to improve on it.
I'm also very dissapointed as to why it took one month to mark the exam as I now only have 2 weeks left on my Solar Accounts trial in which to re-sit the exam.  I feel a bit left high and dry.  I wonder wether using Solar Accounts didn't help?

I'm sure you'll pass next time, good luck to you.

The pass mark for a computerised exam is 85%. I think if you contact the ICB you can pay to get feedback.
Did you read the questions properly? may sound a stupid question but sometimes you can misread something and it isn't until later on that you realise.
Good luck.

Thanks for your advice, it's very true I know which is why I went over the questions a number of times to be sure I hadn't missed anything or misread the question.
Still not sure if Solar Accounts was an issue as the questions seem very geared towards Sage and I couldn't give exactly one of the reports that was called for but did give a report that gave the result though in a slightly different format (Solar Accounts is limited in it's reports) - I feel the questions should take this into consideration.
Am worried if I use Solar Accounts a second time will I meet with the same problem.

The exam is not geared to any particular software package, it is to test your knowledge. I'm not sure but I think, the exam tells you what to do if you can't print the requested reports, doesn't it? as different software have different reports.
You may find you get a slight difference between different software on the VAT, a penny or so (for one of my clients I have to make a manual adjustment sometimes with the VAT as their software doesn't allow me to overwrite the value it calculates for VAT). I've never used Solar Accounts so not sure if you can overwrite the VAT amount.

If your worried about the reports I would contact the ICB.

Thank you Leslie and Mrs S for your comments.

I am wondering about the software I used too.  It would not print out a detailed bank reconciliation.  I did write on my exam paper that the system did not have such a report.

A colleague has suggesed I study one of the past papers, to see if the reports on the standard answers represent what I am producing.

I am also irritated regarding the time taken - my temporary account has almost ran out as well.

As I have over 20 years experience of computerised bookkeeping, and got 99% for my manual exam, I cant help thinking something is a miss.

However I will of course just do it again!
