The value of a self assessment qualification

I have just set up my own practice to provide manual bookeeping services, with my results for the computerised exam pending.  Whilst I wait for the first clients to roll in, can anyone tell me whether it would be worth my while studying for the self-assessment qualification?  I have to do my own and my husband's SA's anyway, irrespective of any new clients.  Also, as an associate member would I eligible to prepare self-assessment tax returns at that level for clients anyway?  Some advice from the ICB and other members would be helful please.

Many thanks,
