Hi

Looking through some you-tube videos for some book keeping inspiration and came across an interesting lecture on vat (ACCA) - the lecture referred to a case concerning VAT and the humble jaffa cake - can anyone enlighten me on the name of the case!

Cheers

Martin

Me too. I think Kilsyth Rangers will beat Irvine Meadow.

“Hi

Just 1 extra point, biscuits are actually VAT exempt, but chocolate covered ones are classed as a luxuary item and therefore VAT is payable.

McVities were saying the Jaffa Cake is a chocolate covered cake, which is still VAT exempt.”

And who said you can't have your cake and eat it!!Wink

Crumbs thanks for that - certainly makes vat seem more interesting

I dont suppose there is anything to make data protection/freedom of information interesting?

This is fascinating.

Bit like the tax battle in the courts about a news presenters clothes for work.

And who says bookkeepers / accountants jobs are boring - not me Laughing

Hi James

What if it is a lild's jaffa cake does that have vat on it.   If so Liz above was trying to con us that they were cheaper then the real thing in Scottish forum.

James you seem to know a lot about the jaffa cake .  Is that your favourite  biscuit.

So much for me thinking about a shock. Kilsyth did take the lead after 4 minutes but the Medda went through on penalties. Such is my luck at predicting I think Man United will beat Barcelona tonight.

Just a note......

I bought both the Pretend Jaffa Cake and the Real Jaffa Cake yesterday at Lidl after my son (who is daft on them) decided he preferred the Pretend Jaffa Cake.

So Sarah will have her wish granted for the Real Jaffa Cake to make it's presence felt at the meeting on Thursday - no need for the Real Jaffa Cake fund just yet Laughing

p.s. - Jaffa Cakes in general dont last long enough in our house to see if they go stale or not (I'll hide one and let you know)

They do go hard when they go stale!!  My 2 girls have asked me in the past to buy them but then not eaten them!!
