Tend to be more of a classic fm fan myself :)

but yes, assuming I am in the house alone - 'cause the family sulk when I listen to classical music - the radio will be on.

Hi

I listen to everything when I am doing my bookkeeping.

Its opera and Classical for me if I am annoyed with a horrible client.

The Iplayer and internet radio  on your computer is such a great use as you can listen to Music , Drama Comedy Current affairs when you want to.

Radio 6 Gideon Coe on the Iplayer when I want  to  chill while doing my bookkeeping you never know what you are going to here . He is like Colin Murray was on radio 1 . They were around at the same time , but I think he is better .     Gideon's show had a better slot before those idots and out of touch DJ Radcliffe and Maconie were put on radio 6.   Just use the Iplayer to listen when you want to.
Acorn I reckon you would like Gideon Coe if you like Kate Bush.  Your obvious open to tastes

Some Geoff who used to be on Virgin radio now the other name.

Monday to Friday  Jermeny Vine 12.00pm to 2.00pm.   Radio 2
Radio Asia Iplayer
BBC 4 Afternoon plays
The Arches Omibus
Any questions and Money Box Radio 4
Comedy Radio 7 .

I love listening to Radio Australia .  I was listening the Hurricane live reports from people houses.  That night we had the worst storms in Scotland I was really freaked out .

Love Radio Australia because you get the Asia news as well and all the music and various tastes  .   The news coverage for the World in the Uk is pretty bad.  So its good to hear it from other countries.

French radio just because I love French music and I have no idea what is is about, but I just imagine . Only do that if I am filling.

In my office Geoffrey Gurrumul Yuping  album and Bob Marley's are the favourites.

hehe - I once got told off by an MD of a company we were troubleshooting for (chartered accountants practice to the rescue)

he caught me with my headphones on, while inputting invoices, and I told him I was listening to classic - it was actually aerosmith - my argument being that aerosmith was classic

My CA always maintained it was the best music to listen to while working - but after being caught I started listening to vivaldi instead.  Laughing

Hi

Its great to see some music lovers out there - yes  like classic music, Beethoven Pathetique is really relaxing - my favourite piece, but which i wouldnt recommend book keeping at the same time - Massorgsky Night on bare mountain - classic.

Thanks Sarah - will try Gideon Coe on Youtube

Kind Regards everyone

The practice I work for have a ban on all music Ipods etc etc as the believe it is a hinderance to concentration and communication. Cry

When I have to chance I always listen to radio 4.

Best regards

Hi All

Acorn your more likely to find Gideon Coe is on Radio 6 on the Iplayer or you can go to Radio 6 webpage  than youtube  .   Enjoy.

Stuart I sort of agree with your practice and I don.t if there are a number of people in the room it is distracting.

I think you need to judge , if were all in the room  together depending what we all doing we try to pick something classical and light in the background or even silence.  If you got the office by yourself then its up to the person.

But yes if it is distracting anyone , some times it depends on everyones mood then it is off.   I don,t think is needs to be on all day.

Hi Sarah

If you are wearing earphones then there is no distraction to anyone else. But they still believe it distracts the individual regardless.

I myself hate working in Silence and for those who know me will understand Tongue out No comments please Ami, James or Geoff lol.

I find that I drift off and have to work harder to concentrate in a silent enviroment.

Cheers

And the music helps soothe small babies......

Sounds like a win/win to me Stuart!

Touching wood baby seems to very placid only cries for feeds and nappies at the mo although the cunning little s*d could be lulling into a false sense of optimism.

Undecided

Hi Stuart

I think that is such a shame they have such a strict policy.  I am not a big fan of working in silence.  80% of time I don,t but sometimes I just like the quite as well.

The only thing about someone wearing earphones is you can,t here if someone is speaking to you are your phone has rung.  It has happened to me.   I am not sure I would want someone wearing earphones in the office it is a bit unsociable.  Unless I knew nobody needed them for the day or they did, nt need to answer the phone.

Mind you  I make everyone sit at the dinner table at the same time in my house  to talk , no phones , Games , music or anything allow.  They can do that after they had the dinner I beautiful cooked for them.  I am the same with any one who comes to my house.

You can't beat a bit of Metallica (turned up loud enough so your neighbours in the village 3 miles away complain) to help you relax.

Admittedly got caught while working at 9.30pm, the trainee chartered accountants used to be allowed to have their headphones on in the office, I think mainly so they wouldnt be distracted while doing calculations but not the bookkeepers etc as we had to answer the phones etc.

quite agree with turning tv etc off when visitors are in or if no-one is actually watching it  - that's my pet hate - loath it just droning on :-( .  I do put music on pretty loud when I'm in on my own and cleaning Laughing

When the neighbours are out you should hoover to The Carpenters or Dido. Then when you see the neighbours coming you put on AC/DC. I can't believe my own musical taste includes Dido, The Carpenters, Crass, Metallica and anything ska or reggae.

I love John Frusciante's music and suprisingly to everyone around I am able to concentrate on my work while listening to his music.

I like Metallica (Peasie) and I like Aerosmith (Liz) too :)
