Hi ..can someone please help me?

Hi,  I have recently passed Manual Book Keeping levels I and II and also my computerised II.  I am currently waiting for practice licence to come through so I can start working as a self employed book keeper.  However, I did my course with Sage Instant Accounts V16, (so I need to upgrade as I will hopefully be having more than one client lol), but after speaking to Sage they advised me that it was going to be nearly £700 + Vat for software for upto 5 clients.... Which seems to be a huge expense!

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on software that I could use as an alternative, or should I just keep backking up and restoring my Sage Instant V16?

Many Thanks

Backing up and re-storing is probably against the Sage licence agreement. Might even fall foul of the Money Laundering Regulations in a bizarre way. Wasn't there a post in the "InVoice" newsletter about that or did I imagine that.

You might consider VT Transaction +
http://www.vtsoftware.co.uk/tranplus/index.htm
It gets rave reviews on forums and is multi company. Not the nicest looking software and even worse website but don't let that put you off. There's a 60 day free trial.

Have you ever thought of online software. They use the same encryption as banks for data security and there is no software clogging up your maching. You can access wherever you can get an internet connection, so no need for multiple licences - one for each machine.

I personally use Clear Books. There is a 30 day free trial and as a bookkeeper you can have there premium package at a reduced rate. Furthermore, you can add clients at only £7.50 each. You can always include this in the price you charge the client. Add them when you need them. They can access their accounts and keep an eye on them, you can access their accounts at the same time.

There are many other online packages too. Shop around.
